REV. P. HONKOOP DIES

On Sunday, June 23, the Lord translated out of the church militant into the church triumphant the Rev. P. Honkoop, 70 years old.

The last time we visited him in September, 1962, he was already not feeling well, and he was looking forward to the day of death, He was no more the same as before his sickness. The Lord has called him out of darkness and brought him to the marvelous light, delivered his soul, and set him at liberty. He preached nothing else than Jesus Christ and Him crucified. In 1933 he became Minister, first at the Hague from 1933 till 1947, then he took the call to Ryssen after my departure to the U.S.A. In 1956 he left Ryssen and became minister in Yerseke where he preached as long as was possible.

May the Lord strengthen his wife and children with that comfort that stays in life and death. Also it is our wish that the Lord will give another shepherd in the congregation, It will be an empty place, but may the Lord give the congregation, men that may preach with such boldness and liberty as the Rev. P. Honkoop did. There is a difference in gifts, but the main thing is that they are chosen, called and qualified by the Lord.
