CHURCH NEWS
The Reverend M. Romeyn of Chilliwack, British Columbia has received calls from the Artesia, California and the Sheboygan, Wisconsin Netherlands Reformed Congregations.
A letter was received from the Reverend C. Hegeman that his condition had improved to such an extent that, with the permission of his doctor, he and his wife hoped to return to their children and congregation, arriving in New York on August 19. May the Lord strengthen him further and make everything well, both for body and soul and for length of days.
On August 6 it was 75 years ago that the church of Kalamazoo was organized under the leadership of the late Reverend E. L. Meinders of South Holland. Six ministers served it during two different periods. The church has been without a minister for 36 years. Many ministers have been called during this time but all have declined.
The congregation came together on the 7th of August to commemorate its 75 years of existence. The Reverend W. C. Lamin, its moderator, spoke on The Continual Care of the Lord Over His Church based on Isaiah 65:8. That care was described—
1. to humble us before God
2. to acknowledge the unchangeable love of God
3. to encourage us for the future
The congregation had come up faithfully and the service was concluded by singing Psalter No. 368, verses 5 and 6.
On the same day the piece of ground purchased for a new church was paid for and the necessary papers were signed.
