Dear Friends,
Again a month lies behind us and many donations have been received for which the Mission Committee extends a hearty thank you. May the Lord bless you and your gifts. The harvest is great and the laborers are few. May the Lord give prayer for more laborers. The Lord give prayer for those who are laboring. There is nothing more difficult in the whole world than the conversion of a sinner. By nature we are filled with hatred against the Lord and His salvation. The world is trying to keep the thoughts of death and eternity out of the mind and heart of man. The devil is working twenty four hours in the day to keep man lulled to sleep in sin, whether it is with a form of religion, with the vanities of this world, or with the pride of man. You may say, what has this to do with missions work. When we realize the sad condition of fallen man, then we can realize that there is much prayer needed. May the Lord again pour out His Holy Spirit, for what is impossible with man is possible with the Lord, that is the instruction that the Lord Jesus gave to His disciples. The month of June has been a very busy month with the Synod on the 15th and 16th, Mission meeting in the evening of the 16th at Grand Rapids, a Mission meeting on the 29th of June in Kalamazoo, and the sending out of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Moerdyk on the evening of the 29th. Another Mission meeeting was held on the 30th. Rev. Suyker will write about Mr. and Mrs. Tom Moerdyk being sent to Nigeria. We hope the Lord will be with them. We also include a thank you letter from the Trinitarian Bible Society.

A THANK YOU FROM TRINITARIAN BIBLE SOCIETY
May 13, 1976
Dear Mr. Spaans,
Thank you for your kind letter and gift for which our receipt is enclosed with our warmest thanks for your help and interest. In the gracious providence of God the work has been well maintained during the past year and there are daily renewed opportunities to send out the Holy Scriptures for world wide distribution. We trust that under God’s blessing the Seed sown will bear fruit according to His perfect will.
At the present time there is a shortage of staff here and we find it difficult to keep the correspondence up to date, and we are obliged to send this rather formal duplicated letter in place of the normal more personal acknowledgement. We shall value your prayers for God’s guidance and provision in the coming months.
With warm regards.
Yours sincerely.

REPORT OF SENDING OUT MR. AND MRS. TH. MOERDIJK/nee ELSHOUT TO NIGERIA
Tuesday night, June 29, 1976, a special service was held in the Kalamazoo congregation to send out Mr. and Mrs. Moerdijk for Mission work in Nigeria. This service was conducted by the Chairman of the Mission Board, Rev. L. Kieboom from Sheboygan, Wise. On behalf of the Mission Board Rev. Wm. Suyker from Rock Valley, Iowa, and Rev. A. Verhoef from Chilliwack, B.C., Canada, and the elders J. Spaans from Corsica, So. Dakota and B. Harskamp and W. Van Voorst, both from Sioux Center, Iowa, were also present.
After singing the stanzas 3 and 4 from Psalter No. 65, Rev. Kieboom read Psalm 72 and spoke a few words to introduce his sermon out of Psalm 72:9: “They that dwell in the wilderness shall bow before Him!” Christ is the anointed King over His church from eternity. He was also crowned as King when He ascended on high. Then Rev. Kieboom asked attention for the text of this special occasion, out of Matthew 28:19, 20: “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the Name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Ghost: teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you; and, lo, I am with you alway, even to the end of the world. Amen!” Rev. Kieboom explained these words as follows.
Theme: “CHRIST’S COMMAND REGARDING THE MISSION!”
I. THE AUTHORITY OF CHRIST.
II. THE COMMISSION OF CHRIST.
III. THE PROMISE OF CHRIST.
In His words of farewell Christ addressed His disciples, saying unto them, that unto Him is given all power in heaven and upon earth. This authority is given unto Him by God the Father as a reward upon His accomplished Mediatorial work. Now before He might take His place in heaven to continue His Mediatorial work there. He has given His disciples also authority in His commission for them, saying; “GO YE THEREFORE!” The word THEREFORE refers to His former words. Because to Me is given all power, I will give you power now, to perform your duty in the world. For the disciples were unable to perform this in their own power, unlearned and ignorant men as they were. And this is the same today! All who are sent out to work in the different mission fields are insufficient in themselves to teach the heathen people. Not only ministers or elders and deacons, but also missionaries or doctors or nurses, but also if we are sent out as an agricultural worker to Nigeria! But if we might be called for this by the Lord Himself, He has also given a promise, namely: “Lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world!” This is not only true for all different places of the earth, but also until the last day of the Lord, when He will return upon the clouds in the air, in all His glory! “AMEN”, Christ said, as the faithful Witness to assure His church of His blessings.
Mr. and Mrs. Moerdijk and child
After this sermon Rev. Kieboom asked Mr. and Mrs. Moerdijk to arise and to answer 3 questions. Then the congregation was requested to sing Psalter No. 109:3 for them personally and Psalter No. 48:7 for their work in the near future. After Rev. Kieboom spoke the benediction, Rev. Wm. Suyker spoke a short fitting word on behalf of the Mission Board, and elder P. Beeke did so on behalf of the Kalamazoo Consitory and congregation.
Two days later, July 1st, Mr. and Mrs. Moerdijk with their very young child, left our continent by plane to follow some course in England. After seven weeks, they hope to depart from England to Nigeria to start their work, the Lord willing. Then they hope to live in the same house that Miss Ann Herfst once lived in, our former Mission worker in Nigeria.
About three years ago Mr. and Mrs. Moerdijk were accepted by the Mission Board to be sent out. But then we couldn’t imagine that it would take that long to get a visa for Nigeria. It was remarkable that at the same that they got it, Mr. H. Kissinger, the Secretary of State of the U.S.A., was refused permission to visit Nigeria. Now we may have a Mission worker in Nigeria again, and that on behalf of our congregations on this continent. Let us not forget them in our prayers, and that the Lord may bless them and their labour. Later on, the Lord willing, we hope to receive some letters from them and we will publish something out of them in the Banner. May it all be to the glory of the Triune God and to the profit of poor sinners.
