CURATORIUM MEETING

The Curatorium will meet, the Lord willing, on Tuesday, June 17th at Grand Rapids, Michigan at 2:00 P.M.

The need for ministers is great, therefore the Lord commands us to pray to the Lord of the harvest, to send forth laborers into His harvest, and this includes that the Lord Himself prepare them for such a weighty task. That preparation consists in the working of God’s Spirit in the heart of those He calls, and He also teaches them by His Spirit the things necessary to know for their spiritual life, as well as for the ministry of the Word. If this has happened, we may expect that they will be able to give an account of their conversion and the calling to the ministry.

On the other hand, the Curatorium needs wisdom and something of the Spirit of discernment, and also faithfulness to accept according to their conscience.

It would be a hopeful sign if much prayer would be given to the Congregations regarding this urgent and serious matter.

The consistories of vacant churches should request the assistance of their Moderator in such a serious matter.

Those who have received an attestation from their consistory, are requested to send it to the secretary of the Curatorium before the 14th of May, at the following address:

After we have received an attestation and a request to be examined, a question list will be sent to the consistories involved, which they have to fill out completely and return to the secretary as soon as possible.

ARTESIA CHANGES SERVICE HOURS

The consistory of the Artesia, California, Congregation, announces that a change has been made in Sunday services. The morning service will now begin at 10:00 A.M. rather than 10:30 A.M. as in the past. The evening service will begin at 6:30 P.M.

On March 17, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Kersten hope to observe their 25th wedding anniversary. May the Lord spare them together for each other, and for their dear children and grandchildren for many more years in His favor, to His honor and the joy of their heart, preparing them to meet the Lord in righteousness and in peace.

A SERIOUS REQUEST

At our latest meeting of the Inheritance Publishers Committee our secretary, Mr. Clarence Bleeker, as is customary, read some correspondence he had received in response to the sermons sent out to several countries, especially to England and Scotland. Two letters were very interesting, and gave some hope that the people understand the truth. Alas, there are more happy than unhappy people. But we must always remember what we read in Isa. 55:11: “So shall My Word be that goeth forth out of My mouth: it shall not return unto Me void, etc.”

Our treasurer, Mr. Richard Westrate, gave a report about the finances, and that was not encouraging, notwithstanding that we have a list of people and congregations that send gifts and collections. For the last five sermons that were sent out (about 14,000 each time) the cost was about $7448.00; leaving a balance of only $781.61.1 thought to make known our need, then you all know what we are waiting for. Please do not wait too long to send your gifts or collections to the treasurer, Mr. Richard Westrate, 2060 44th St. S.E., Grand Rapids, Michigan 49508.
