PROVIDENCE CHRISTIAN SCHOOL KALAMAZOO, MICHIGAN
On the evening of June 10, 1980 the congregation of Kalamazoo observed a very significant event, the dedication of the new school building.
The Moderator, Rev. W.C. Lamain, opened the meeting with prayer. After the singing of a Psalter number, one of the graduates read Prov. 3. The gymnasium was filled with many members and friends.
First the graduation of the four children who were leaving the school took place. The children sang some Psalter numbers and read a few portions out of God’s Word. The chairman of the school board, Mr. W. Timmer gave the graduates their diplomas together with a few edifying words.
Afterwards the President of the consistory, Mr. Peter Beeke, spoke to the graduates and presented to each of them the Word of God.
After this the teacher, Mrs. Bradley, and the Principal, Mrs. Markus spoke.
Then it was time for the Moderator to address the audience. He spoke about the word “dedication”.
He elaborated upon the difference between the priesthood of Aaron and that of Melchizedek. Aaron was the priest of reconciliation, and Melchizedek the priest of dedication. In the state of innocency man was created after the image of God, created to the honor and glory of God. The first Adam destroyed everything, but the second Adam reconciled and restored what was broken.
The true doctine is necessary, also for our children, and that is the reason we have our own schools.
May that doctrine also be upheld in this school, for this generation, and for the generations to come to the honor of God and the salvation of our children.
Elder G. Moerdk closed the meeting with prayer.
Psalter No. 241 was sung as the concluding number.
