PLYMOUTH CHRISTIAN SCHOOL

On February 23, 1981, the Grand Rapids Congregation voted to add grades 10–12 to Plymouth Christian School. This will necessitate building additional classrooms to the present structure. Anyone who may be able to loan money toward this project may contact the school board.

We will be in need of two new teachers in September 1981. One for the elementary grades and the other for secondary education. May the Lord incline the hearts of our young people to fill these needs.

SCHOOL TEACHERS NEEDED IN CORSICA

On November 18, 1980, the congregation of Corsica voted to try to begin their own Christian school. Enrollment for the first year will probably be about 30, D.V. We urgently need two qualified teachers dedicated to our Netherlands Reformed beliefs to undertake this task with the help of the Lord. Please contact Cornie Blom, R. R. 2, Corsica, South Dakota, 57328 (Tel. 605/243-2341) or Henry D. Spaans, Box 218, Stickney, S.D. 57375 (Tel. 605/732-4334).

May the Lord provide.

SCHOOL TEACHERS NEEDED IN ROCK VALLEY-SIOUX CENTER CHRISTIAN SCHOOL

The Netherlands Reformed Christian School of Rock Valley-Sioux Center is taking applications for the 1981–1982 school year for primary grade level teachers. May God provide teachers of His own choice.

Young people, we hope that the Lord may incline the hearts of those amongst us who are more serious minded to pursue a degree in education. When you firmly believe our doctrine, seriously consider the profession of teaching. The need appears to be growing more and more.

May the Lord graciously provide for our needs as well as the needs of several other schools, supplying us with teachers in His favor.

Interested applicants should contact John Bakker, Rural Route 2, Hull, Iowa 51239 (712/439-2233).

OUR CHRISTIAN SCHOOLS

Have you ever realized to what extent our school system in the United States and Canada has grown throughout recent years? It was not so long ago that we could speak of but one school—our school in Grand Rapids which had been in existence since 1908. Beginning in 1975, when two more schools were organized, we have seen them increase to 8 schools at the present time. During the current school year there are almost 1400 pupils with approximately 70 teachers. Endeavors are being made in other congregations so that they also may have their own school.

What reason there is to acknowledge the Lord for the means which He has provided to make this possible. In giving the above statistics it is not our intention to boast of human attainments, but to give reason to exclaim with David, “Blessed be Thou, O Lord God of Israel our Father, forever and ever. Thine, O Lord, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory and the victory, and the majesty; for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is Thine,” etc. (I Chronicles 29:10–19).

As parents and grandparents, we have assumed a great responsibility and are constantly reminded of this when baptism is administered in the church. Vows have been made regarding the bringing up of our children. This responsibility cannot be shifted off our shoulders to the church nor to the school, but what a blessing when we have these means to assist us therein. May prayer be made for His blessing upon it, with a thankful acknowledging of that which He has enabled us to do.

As boys and girls, we must appreciate the opportunities granted us to be instructed in schools where God is acknowledged and His Word impressed upon us as the Guide of our life. Schools do not give salvation unto you. We can only repeat that which the apostle Paul wrote to Timothy, “Continue thou in the things which thou has learned” (2 Timothy 3:14). And he directed him further unto the scriptures, “able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.”

May fruit be seen from the seed which is sown—to the honor of the Triune God and the welfare of our people, our congregations, and our nations.

GROUND-BREAKING CEREMONY FOR CORSICA’S CHRISTIAN SCHOOL

Friday evening, April 10, 1981, the congregation of Corsica gathered west of the church building to break ground for a new, two classsroom school. Rev. J. R. Beeke spoke briefly for the occasion from Psalm 4:6, “There be many that say, Who will shew us any good? Lord, lift Thou up the light of Thy countenance upon us.” He pointed out that David was beset with impossibilities so great that even his friends did not see how the future could be promising in any way. His only refuge was to God’s countenance. It was the wish of our moderator that the Lord would provide as a surprising God also for our small congregation in this worthy but seemingly impossible endeavor, due to the problem of receiving no applications for teaching positions. The school board president, Henry Spaans, closed with prayer, after which the congregation gathered in the church to hear the minister address them for the last time as moderator from Matthew 27:21.

We would like to re-state at this time our urgent need for two teachers of Netherlands Reformed persuasion in order to begin our school this September. May the Lord bind our needs upon the hearts of prospective teachers, sending them to us in His favor. Interested applicants should contact Henry Spaans, Box 218, Stickney, S.D. 57375 (Tel. 605/732-4334).
