CURATORIUM
The Curatorium will meet, the Lord willing, at Grand Rapids, Michigan on Tuesday, June 9th, 1981, to examine those who want to apply for admittance to our Theological school.
Those interested must request an attestation from their local Consistory. If an attestation has been given them, they should send it, together with a request for admittance, to the secretary of the Curatorium, Rev. L. Kieboom, 1548 N. 16th St., Sheboygan, Wis., 53081, before the 21st of May.
The Consistories of vacant churches must request the presence of their Moderator for such an important examination.
In case they have the liberty to grant an attestation, the Consistory must request the Secretary of the Curatorium to send them a question list, which must be filled out by the Consistory. This completed question list must be sent to the clerk of the Curatorium.
May the Lord remember the condition of our denomination and that some brothers, converted and called by the Lord, might be given us to labor amongst us in the future, and that the experimental truth might be preserved from generation to generation.
We urgently request our churches to remember the Curatorium in prayer, especially on the Sunday before the Curatorium will meet.
Rev. W.C. Lamain, Chairman
Rev. L. Kieboom, Clerk
REV. C. HEGEMAN
Rev. C. Hegeman, who, for approximately eighteen years, has served several churches in America: the churches in Paterson, Peoples Park, twice in Sioux Center, as well as in Unionville, has exchanged time for eternity. For Mrs. Hegeman, his children and congregation, it was very sudden. Rev. Hegeman died April 28, 1981 and was 66 years old at the time of his death.
If we were living close to death, then it would not be sudden, but most of us are living so far from death. We are not created to die, but to live. We all, also ministers, have to go the way of all flesh. As we were informed, he passed away at the funeral service of Rev. M. S. Minor, sixty-five years of age, who was buried on April 28, 1981. For both of them, an eternal blessing. “They are now resting from all their labors,” but for their families and congregations, which they have served, it is a heavy blow and an empty place.
We commend the widow to the God of all grace, Who is a Husband of widows. That this calling may be a blessing for the children, and that it may be confirmed, “As a father pitieth his children, so the Lord pitieth those that fear Him,” Ps. 103:13.
May the Lord remember the congregations who are without a shepherd and leader, and supply the empty place with a man of His counsel.
May He give us together grace to live and to die for Christ’s sake. Then the day of death will be better than the day we were born.
In behelf of the United States
and Canadian churches,
Rev. W. C. Lamain and Rev. A. DenBoer
Deputies for correspondence with Foreign Churches
