ST. CATHARINES

It was 25 years ago, in the month of January, that Mr. A. VanDriel was chosen for the office of deacon, and was installed in that office in the congregation of St. Catharines, Ontario. All those years he was privileged to serve in that office with love and faithfulness. All our work is imperfect and polluted by sin. Also in that respect no man can stand before God.

In the morning service of the 9th of January, as Student John Spaans was conducting the service, he cordially addressed Mr. VanDriel, together with his wife and family, who have sacrificed much for the congregation in the years that have flown by.

The Lord continue to strengthen him with the climbing of his years and the weakness of his body that is becoming evident, and also grant him personal grace which shall remain, even when the office falls away. Faith is a gift of God which we ourselves cannot take, but must be given to us by grace for the sake of the merits of the Author and Finisher of our faith, Jesus Christ, (Hebrews 12:2).
