BIBLE QUIZ
Dear Boys and Girls,
This month we again have a crossword puzzle for you, which was submitted by one of our young friends. The theme for this puzzle is: “But with God all things are possible,” a text which you will find in Matthew 19:26. As you work out the crossword puzzle, you will see that each time the wonders of the Lord are brought to our attention. Throughout the Bible we can find how the Lord showed His mighty power and greatness in the midst of His people, but also to the nations round about them. At times the Lord was acknowledged, such as was done by King Nebuchadnezzar who said, “Of a truth it is, that your God is a God of gods, and a Lord of kings.” At another time he said, “There is no other God that can deliver after this sort.”
Sad to say, even though they said this, it was soon forgotten, and other gods were served, gods of wood and stone. Perhaps we would say, “How foolish those people were to do this after they had seen such wonders take place!” But are we better than those people? Do we give the Lord the honor which is due to Him? We too are provided for by the Lord in such wonderful ways from day to day, and how this should cause us to acknowledge Him and confess His Name! But do we?
Some may say that many of the wonders of which we read in the Bible are no longer seen in the world today. But aren’t there many other wonders to be seen, things which were thought to be impossible in days gone by? If we stop and think about all that we have today, do we not see that the Lord is still showing us His mighty power and greatness? Also, just as in the days of the psalmist, the heavens still declare the glory of God, and the firmament shows His handiwork. He still enables man to live upon the earth, even amidst all the evils of the day.
We have yet to mention the greatest wonder, as is taught us by the Lord in His Word which we may have in our homes, schools, and churches. It is the wonder of the Mediator, the Lord Jesus Christ, who was sent into the world for the salvation of sinners. Isn’t that a wonder which should be a new wonder to us every morning and every day? The Bible tells us that His Name is Wonderful, and we hope that this may be learned by each of us as we travel through this life. Ask the Lord to teach you this by His Word and Spirit.

Again there are letters to answer —
James Bouwmeester
Thanks for your letter, James. Sometimes it is difficult to regulate everything, including the mail service, so that The Banner of Truth arrives on time. Above all, may the Lord grant you to be a true student of His Word.
Rosa Velier
Would you also like to work on the mission field, Rosa? There is much work which can be done, especially when we think of people who have never heard about the Word of God. It must be our prayer that the Lord will bless His Word for those in far off lands, but also for us who already have His Word.
Suzanne Van Den Bosch
Congratulations on your parents’s anniversary, Suzanne. There are always many reasons to say, “Hitherto hath the Lord helped us,” but this is especially true on anniversaries and birthdays. We hope that they may be spared together for many more years. and that they won’t have to use that walking stick too soon.
Joanne Noorduyn
It was nice to receive a letter from you again, Joanne. Thank-you for the picture also. In the Bible there is a story about bees and honey. Do you know where it is to be found? We hope that the Lord may cause all of our young friends to find and taste that sweetness in His Word.
Cindy Kreit
We do have quite a few birds here, Cindy. Do you have large lakes near you from which the sea gulls are coming? When we think about the homes and environment in which many young people are brought up today, then there is much reason for concern. What a blessing if we may have parents who teach us of God and His Word.
Mary Bosch
How long were you out of school for the whooping cough, Mary? We hope that you don’t also get the measles. Or have you had them already? Boys and girls also became sick in Bible times. Can you think of some examples? Some of them were healed by the Lord Jesus.
Reilly Velier
How long do you practice your piano playing per week, Reilly? Do you try to do some practicing every day? Our talents are blessings, but then they must be used in a right way. We can read of this in the parable which the Lord Jesus spoke about, the servants who were given talents with which to trade, by their master.
Karin Bertram
I suppose your uncle and aunt will soon be returning from their trip, Karin. They will have lots to tell about, since they have been to so many different places. Are all of the family well again? How are those twins doing? I think your mother keeps quite busy with them, and probably you do too.
Trevor Aleman
Do you have quite a variety of vegetables in your garden, Trevor? The harvest which is taken from the field is the reward for all the hard work which is necessary. And I am sure that you can attest to the hard work that is necessary. Which instrument do you play in your band?
Trina Huisman
Congratulations on your father’s birthday, Trina. Another year of life given us is always a reason for thankfulness before the Lord. When we see the families destroyed in a country like Bangladesh, then it must be a wonder that we may still live in the midst of a family.
Aline Bosch
We hope everyone is feeling much better again, Aline. In the Psalter we sing, “But grief and toil attend life’s day,” and this includes all the sicknesses which are so often around us. How much we must appreciate the health which is given us along with so many other blessings.
Cynthia Huisman
Your letter is the last one, Cynthia. The Word of God never becomes old, so we may study it our whole lifetime and find instruction in it. There is always something new to learn from the Bible.
Many thanks to all the boys and girls for your answers again this month. As we begin the summer months, it is our prayer that all may be spared and protected wherever we may go. We hope that time may also be found for the study of God’s Word, even though our school books are put to one side.
With love,
Your friend,
“Uncle Garret”
