ASCENSION AND PENTECOST

May none of us despise
The blessings of ascension;
When Christ returned to reign and rule
After His condescension.

The gates of heaven opened
And Christ could enter in;
For He was victor over all
The powr’s of hell and sin.

Enthroned at God’s right hand
He intercedes for those;
Who put their trust in Him
And in His grace repose.

The merit of Christ’s work
Was evidently shown;
When on the day of Pentecost
His Spirit was made known.

The gospel had now come
To every tongue and nation;
And everyone who trusts in Christ
Finds reconciliation.

Parthians, Medes and Jews,
Ethiopia, Tyre and Crete;
Shall gather at Christ’s throne
And bow before His feet.

Oh, seek the Lord while He is near,
On Him your burden cast;
Before the summer’s ended
And harvest time is past.
