Welcome to our new members: Janesa Bruinsma, Kaelyn Maljaars and Tamara Vanderweerd. I hope you will enjoy doing he quizzes. Janessa, can you please send me your address? Thanks. I hope you are all happy to begin school again — ask the Lord each day to help you in your work and to bless His Word to your hearts.

Love,
Aunt LenaBeth

Hello Boys and Girls Meet some of our quiz members...

Rebecca Krygsman

Which two psalters can you play on the recorder, Rebecca? Psalter 10 and Psalter 60 are beautiful psalters. We are so used to singing some of those words because we learn Psalter 60 when we are very young, but did you ever think about them? “To Thee l lift my soul!” Ask yourself where your heart is drawn—is it drawn “to Thee” to God? Or are our hearts drawn to ourselves and the world?

Susanna Aleman

I love the picture you drew, Susanna. Thank you so much. I hope you had a happy birthday. Do you read your new Bible often? Do you have a favorite chapter you like to read? Ask the Lord every day if He will help you to understand what you read, okay? What did you name your doll? I hope you enjoyed having the scavenger hunt and building sand castles. That sounds like fun Was your sand castle big? Sometimes we have such fun and busy days in the summer that supper is late, right? We have those days, too. I’m glad you had delicious lasagna in the end.

Kayleen Les

Congratulation, on the birth of your nephew Tyson, Kayleen. How exciting! Do you see him and hold him often? How is he doing? Yes, I’m an aunt like you I have twenty-nine nieces and nephews. No, I don’t live on a farm, but I do like farms. I hope you will have a puppy one day. They are so loveable. I don’t have a puppy, but I do have two dogs, as well as a canary, fish, gecko, and chickens. I’m glad you like the puzzles. Can you think of a Bible verse which speaks of reading and searching the Bible?

Annie Ymker

Has your second cow’s calf arrived, Annie? What are your dogs’ names? Your five lambs must be getting big by now. Will you keep them sell them? It must have been a big storm that blew your trampoline away. I’m sorry it broke. Ours is between the trees, so I guess it won’t blow away very easily. The Bible speaks of many storms, doesn’t it? In one story, the Lord Jesus calmed the storm with just a few words: “Peace, be still.” It shows His Almighty power. He still calms storms today when He brings peace or quietness into the hearts of His children by times. Ask the Lord to speak a word to your heart, too, Annie.

Kaelyn Maljaars

Thank you for joining us, Kaelyn. Do you know the psalter, “Thy by Word sheds light upon my path”? This verse shows us that God’s Word is very, very important, doesn’t it? The Bible is like a light to show the way. Do you listen when your dad reads the Bible? How was Lumbreck Falls? That sounds like a pretty spot. Your summer vacation is over now, I imagine, and you have begun school again. Which grade are you in?

Adrianna, Joseph, & Serena Byers

I like your long, newsy letters, Adrianna, so don’t worry about taking up my time—I wish I could write a long one back but I have limited space. How did the Royal Canadian Legion like the commemorative mural? How is your adorable puppy doing? Hm... somehow children do figure out how to understand Dutch when their parents try to talk about them — maybe your parents will have to try a different language! Congratulations on your 8th grade graduation, Joseph. That is a big accomplishment, and there is much to he thankful for when we reach an important milestone, isn’t there? Happy birthday, Serena. It sounds like you had a wonderful day. I hope the Lord will bless and keep you in the coming year and, above all, grant you a new heart.

Sarah Krygsman

I’m so sorry that your cat was killed in the road, Sarah. That must have been so sad. How is your fish doing? The story about the Good Samaritan is both sad and happy, isn’t it? It is sad to think of that poor hurt man lying there with people walking right on by, but it is also good to see how someone did stop to help. The Samaritan helped a stranger and enemy — he obeyed the commandment, “Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.” The other part of this commandment is, “love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind.” Ask the Lord often to give you a heart that loves God in this way.

Johnathan Heger

Summer had some hot days, didn’t it, Johnathon? I would love to see a picture of your field trip when your computer stops giving you trouble. I hope you are enjoying school again. The most important thing of all to learn is what we read in Proverbs, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge.”

Corinna Stubbe

How was your vacation at the cottage, Corinna? We did go on vacation for two nights to a place with historic ships and an aquarium and the ocean. Yes, I did like school when I was younger except for a time when I was teased. It is sad to be teased. I went to school in two places in Holland as well as in St. Catherines and Franklin Lakes. No, our grades were not divided into classes. Sometimes our grades were combined. I hope you enjoyed the rest of your summer and that you will learn much in school this year, especially regarding that one thing most needful. Always listen well in Bible class and chapel.

Marilyn Heger

Did you begin your violin lessons? I’m glad you like music. The Lord gave us music; we read in the Bible where Moses wrote many songs and that when David played his harp, Saul was quieted. In many of the psalms, such as Psalm 40, music is expressed as praise. “And He hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God.”

Amy Bosman

Our summer is going well, Amy. It was very, very busy in the beginning, but then I was happy to have some weeks to enjoy having no school. I like when my children are home. Do you like being home? Did you have sunny and hot weather often? What else did you do this summer? Did you give away your last two kittens? I hope that also during the summer you read a little portion from the Bible every day. We read so often in the Bible of people who “read in the book of Moses” and “read in the book of Moses” and in the “book of records of the chronicles,” and the eunuch was reading the Bible in his chariot where it was blessed to his heart.
