Curatorium Meeting Report

The Curatorium of the Netherlands Reformed Theological School met on Wednesday, May 31, 2023. It was with much gladness that, after the final exams of Student P. Kleijer, we were enabled to declare him a Candidate for the holy ministry. May the Lord grant us much prayer for him in the months ahead, that he may receive clear direction in the weighty decision he must make and be joined to one of our congregations in the Lord’s favor.

On the other hand, it is always disappointing when there is no freedom to accept new students into our theological school. At present, this means that our school is closed for the time being. May this sad fact move our hearts to supplicate the Lord of the harvest. This world rushes headlong to its end, and time, like an ever-rolling stream, bears all its sons away. Are there those with living concerns not only for the welfare of their own soul but also for those of our rising generation? “How shall they hear, without a preacher? And how shall they preach except they be sent?” The Curatorium cannot do this, no, and if they go forward without the Lord’s favor, it will surely go wrong. This is the Lord’s work alone, and as a Curatorium we must be convinced of this, both for the sake of persons coming with an attest as well as for the welfare of our denomination.

May the Lord make all of us together a praying people, storming the throne of grace for this blessing and favor which we cannot give ourselves and so be pleased to gladden us with His deeds in time to come.
