THE MACEDONIER MISSIONARY SOCIETY
of the Netherland Reformed Congregations Classis East
With the realization that perhaps many of our readers may not be familiar with the Macedonier Missionary Society, we are writing a brief article this month about this organization and the good work they are performing with the help of the Lord.
For many years now this missionary society of our eastern congregations has been engaged in spreading the knowledge of the pure Gospel by the written word. Lately these brethren have also been active in supporting the mission work of Rev. G. Kuijt in New Guinea. As far as we know, Rev. Kuijt presently has an established field of labor amongst one of the heathen tribes. It was encouraging to learn recently that another man is being trained in Holland for the mission field. May God’s blessing richly rest upon it.
The Macedonier Missionary Society is very active in the printing and distribution of sermon booklets. These are translated sermons, and they are being sent to the churches free of cost. The society reports that at first only 500 copies of each sermon were being printed, but now they are sending out over 1,600 sermons of each title. We have been informed that many people outside of our own congregations have shown interest in these booklets. Many gifts have been received for the financial support of this work as well as for the support of Rev. Kuijt. One of the brothers, With the assistance of his wife, does a very good work in printing these sermon booklets without any charge. It was very interesting to see the operation of his press in the basement of his home while I was visiting the East last summer.
In the December, 1963 issue of the Banner of Truth we were pleased to announce the publication of a booklet by this society for young people. It is entitled “A Seaman’s Years at School.” We are glad to learn that it is their plan to print other booklets in the near future for the benefit of our youth.
The mailing address of the Macedonier Missionary Society of the Netherland Reformed Congregations is P. O. Box 127, Midland Park, New Jersey.
May we encourage these brothers to continue to labor and sow the good seed of the Word in the dark times in which we are living. “In the morning sow thy seed, and in the evening withhold not thine hand: for thou knowest not whether shall prosper, either this or that, or whether they both shall be alike good.” — Eccl. 11:6.
