YOUTH DAY-NORWICH ONTARIO JULY 5,1975
This year a Youth Day conference will be held in Norwich, Ontario, D.V. on Saturday, July 5, with the local pastor, the Rev. A.M. Den Boer as leader. The meeting will commence at 9:30 A.M. in the Church of the Norwich Congregation.
Those desiring additional information, or accomodations, should write or call the clerk at the following address:

Tel. No. 519/485-2393
We hope many of our young people will make an effort to attend these meetings. May the subjects that shall be discussed prove to be a blessing for our rising generation. Also in these matters the church has a calling. Keep that which is entrusted unto thee.
May the Lord grant especially unto the watchmen on Zion’s walls the grace to be faithful, to stand on guard for the truth which is after godliness, which does not allow “give and take”, not in spiritual life either.
The problems are many, and it is becoming more and more evident that the devil has but a short time. (Rev. 12:12) The world attracts on every side, and in general the desire to search and study those things that are necessary is decreasing. We notice that more and more in the catechism classes. We often look into the future with much fear.
May the Lord bless the meetings, and cause them to be a strong testimony against conformity to the world in its hairdress and apparel, which is dishonoring to the Lord, contrary to His ordinances, and injurious to spiritual life in the congregations. Let it plainly be seen in our walk and conversation that we are a separate people. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and when that fear of God is implanted in our hearts by the Holy Spirit, it reveals itself in forsaking the world and following after righteousness.
May the Lord remember us and our children and grandchildren in His favor in Christ Jesus.

WE ALL MUST DIE
We read in Job 14:1, “Man that is born of a woman is of few days, and full of trouble.” Also in Hebr. 9:27, “It is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.” We all must die. If we can say that we may die, we have received grace from above. Church officers, as ministers, elders, and deacons, also are subject to death.
During the first part of the year four friends who for a longer or shorter period have been church officers in our congregations have been taken away by the cold hand of death.
Mr. Arnold Pluim of Waupun, Wisconsin, died very suddenly at the age of 60. He had been deacon there for some years. On April 25 Mr. M. De Bat of St. Catharines, Ontario. was buried at the age of 74. He had served the congregation as elder for 23 years, ever since its organization. On May 15 the local pastor, Rev. A.W. Verhoef conducted the funeral of Mr. C. Kooiman, age 67, who, as Rev. Verhoef said, had served the congregation of Chilliwack, B.C., for 22 years as elder. On May 17 Mr. Tunis De Knecht was buried in Paterson, New Jersey. For many years he was elder in the English congregation of Haledon Ave. and later in Peoples Park. During the last years illness and weakness bound him to his home.
The Lord remember the surviving widows and children, sanctify the callings to their souls, and comfort them with the only comfort in life and death.
We have met and known all those brothers, some more personally, some more at meetings, but it is most important that the Lord knows us. 2 Tim. 2:19, “The Lord knoweth them that are His.”
We cannot be saved by our office, but only by a personal, saving faith wrought in our hearts by the Holy Spirit.
Concerning those deceased brothers, the Lord has brought them to the place which He had determined for them in eternity. The one spoke more of those matters than the other, but what Christ once said to Nicodemus in John 3:3, “Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God,” also applies to them.
And further, the need for ministers is great, but no less the need for elders and deacons who have in their hearts the fear of the Lord and spiritual life. It is especially necessary for the elders, who, as the Form for the Ordination of Elders and Deacons tells us, must rule the church. And what a great blessing it is for a minister when he has at his side men with grace and gifts, as Aaron and Hur who held the hands of Moses.
May the Lord remember our congregations, giving His Spirit in our hearts and in our midst, but also men who will fight for the truth, and for holiness of life.
