A MOTHER'S PLEA
My dear Children,
It seems that when we get together we have so much to talk about — our work, business, the children, etc., and when we are more serious it is the terrible things going on in the Government and amongst the people. I cannot explain to you how I long to talk to you about eternal things. We are in this world for a very short time. This life is only temporary; then comes eternity, world without end. We read in God's Word, "Prepare to meet thy God", and instead of using this precious time as we should, we waste it on those things that cannot profit our souls.
We shall either go to heaven or to hell, and that for all eternity. O my dear children, our souls are the most precious thing we have, and yet regarded the least! If one of us had to die today, what would be said about our soul? Would it be an eternity of misery? Do the things of this world mean so much to us that we would have misery in hell forever, just to have sin and worldliness now? There is no goal of peace in this life. If there are a few things that we enjoy, we must leave them behind when death comes.
O my dear children, there is nothing that can compare with having the Lord Jesus Christ as our Refuge, our Lord, and our Saviour! The enemy of souls works hard to keep us from coming to Jesus, and we shall either be followers of the one or the other. By nature we are slaves to Satan and at enmity with God. Oh that He might yet have mercy upon us and draw us to His dear Son, Jesus Christ! He is all we need and all we care for once we have felt His love shed abroad in our hearts.
Dare to be different and separated from worldly friends, and not to seek after the things of this world. We know that some things are necessary in our time state, but hear what God the Lord says, "Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you." Closing now with love to you all from Mother.
It pleases the Father that ALL fulness should be in Christ; therefore there is nothing but emptiness anywhere else.—W. Gadsby.
