Dear friends,
Herewith we want to thank you all for your kind gifts in support of the Mission. May the Lord bless you and your gifts.
We read in Zechariah 13:1; In that day there shall be a fountain opened to the house of David, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, for sin and for uncleanness.
Whether we live in New Guinea, in Africa, in Europe, America or Latin America, through the fall or the breach of the covenant we are all born and conceived in sin, and our life is nothing else but sin.
In Isaiah 6 we read, that the blessed prophet Isaiah cried out, “woe is me for I am undone.” A holy Job exclaims, “behold I am vile,” and a Daniel tells us that when the Lord appeared to him, his comeliness was turned to corruption. Oh my friends, how must we appear in the sight of such a holy God.
In the Gospel of John, chapter 3:6, “that which is born of the flesh is flesh,” and in verse 19, “And this is the condemnation that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.”
If we are honest my dear friends, then we haven’t anything to boast of from our side, and we read the best of this life is labor and sorrow.
But we begin with, in that day shall a fountain be opened, opened in eternity, by a triune God, confirmed in time by a triune God, and sealed in it for eternity by a triune God.
Let us never forget Jeremiah 31:9 where it says, “They shall come with weeping, and with supplications will I lead them.” We read in Acts 2:37, the earnest cry of a penitent heart, “Men and brethren what shall we do?” We are nothing but sin and guilt. The Bible teaches us, only acknowledge thy iniquity, and then personally we will be given to learn something of that open fountain for sin and uncleanness, as Cowper has it;
There is a fountain filled with blood;
Drawn from Immanuel’s veins;
And sinners plunged beneath that flood,
The dying thief rejoiced to see;
That fountain, that fountain in his day.
May the Lord truly give what we read in Ezekiel 37:14; “And shall put my spirit in you and ye shall live, and I shall place you in your own land, then shall ye know that I the Lord have spoken it and performed it, saith the Lord.”
That this may be experienced at home and abroad is our wish and prayer.
