TEACHER DEVELOPMENT COURSES - 1988

Following the initial Teacher Development Courses which were offered in Norwich in August of 1987, there were numerous requests and much strong support for continuation of such courses, if possible, on an annual basis. The NRC Synodical Education and College Committees plan, D.V., to offer additional Teacher Development classes in Kalamazoo, Michigan, next August. For the sake of convenience the courses will be offered immediately following the NRCEA Board Meeting which is scheduled for the week of August 8. The courses will start on Tuesday evening, August 9 and finish at noon on Friday, August 12. The courses are being offered to all NRC teachers, principals, school board members, consistory members and other interested persons. There is no registration fee for the courses. A nominal fee will be charged to cover lunches and the evening dinner on August 10.

The program outlined below is being offered at this time to allow all interested persons to plan in advance to attend. We would like to extend a hearty invitation to as many as possible to attend the courses. Based on the feedback received from the first courses, those who attend can expect to receive sound practical instruction in a variety of subjects, with special emphasis upon our Reformed doctrinal beliefs. It is the wish and prayer of our Committees that the courses serve to meet the immediate needs of the schools of our denomination and also, with the Lord’s blessing, that they may serve to increase understanding of our beliefs and permeate throughout the families of our congregations. May the Lord, who has so richly provided in former days by using religious training to the advancement and enlargement of His church, also guide us in these courses to that end. The education of our young people continues to be of great concern and, realizing that higher education must presently be sought outside of our circles, therefore should spur us on to the continuing quest of providing this ourselves, looking to the God of grace for assistance.
